Hiking Safety
Whether taking a hike for a couple of hours, a whole day, or an overnight, planning and preparing ahead of time will keep you safe.
- Always notify a family member and/or friends when you are heading out on a hike – let them know where you’ll be and when you’ll return.
- Plan your route ahead of time using maps and weather reports.
- Know the rules/regulations of where you will be hiking.
- Bring plenty of water.
- Make sure the hike is appropriate for your physical capabilities. If you are taking on a difficult hike, prepare yourself physically ahead of time.
